Avatar: The Last Airbender was a very successful animated show on Nickelodeon, and I've personally been a rather big fan ever since it came on. A great deal of good action, an excellent storyline, well rounded characters with more than enough comical moments (especially from Sokka and Aang). The trailers do not hint at this comedy, but hopefully it makes it through to the movie versions, as well. Read more and see the trailer after the jump.
Written, produced, and directed by modern-day suspense master M. Night Shyamalan, the movie will usher in a new generation of younger actors, including never-before-seen Noah Ringer in the title role of Aang and Nicola Peltz as his friend/love interest, Katara. Some of you probably know Dev Patel (Zuko) from his role in smash foreign film Slumdog Millionaire (2008).
The show spanned three seasons as "Acts", with each show acting as a "Chapter." This movie will encompass the first act, which means that this movie will be part of a trilogy. Fingers crossed that this makes it to that status, it looks great!
